Introduction

I am a computer professional who does contract work and contributes to the open source community. I now contribute primarily to the Fedora Project (Profile). My current employer is cat-man-du (Read more...). My skill set is extensive, built largely through experience. My strongest talents are with building and maintaining servers. I also have development, maintenance, repair and other assorted skills.

I do what I do because I love it. I feel like working with the open source community gives me the opportunity to make contributions to what I believe is the future. I love having the opportunity to make a difference. When looking for work, I look for ways in which I can spread the open source phenomenon and benefit it at the same time. I'm not looking for high-profile recognition; I see my work as a way that I can benefit the world and support my family at the same time.

With the Fedora Project, I have the chance to work on one of the biggest GNU/Linux distributions. Since the Project is a meritocracy, my ongoing efforts are rewarded by bigger and better opportunities to contribute. I get to work with a large pool of talent that spans the globe. These are people who are often as passionate about open source as I am. I also get the opportunity to assist large numbers of end-users who are just beginning their journey with open source. Although I don't spend much time in end-user channels, I feel that the work I do on websites and documentation provides at least as much benefit.

The freelance writing that I do is often related to technology, though I can cover other subjects as well. I enjoy writing and find it to be relaxing in much the same way as many people enjoy reading. Sample articles and more information can be found on my wiki.
